The Australian Living Peace Museum in conjunction with the History Teachers Association of Victoria has developed a curriculum resource for World War One in the online exhibition Against the Odds. This resource provides a stimulating range of activities for students undertaking the compulsory Victorian History Curriculum Level 9 and 10 unit Australia at war (1914 – 1945). It helps students reflect on the complexities of the World War I conscription debate through a range of analytical, creative and research tasks. The Australian Living Peace Museum in conjunction with Alexandra Pierce has developed a curriculum resource for study of the anti-Vietnam War movement in Australia. This resource provides a stimulating range of activities for students undertaking both Unit 2 Modern History, and Unit 3 and 4 Australian History. It uses oral history interviews with women to help students reflect on the complexities of the Vietnam War conscription debate, and suggests a range of analytical and research tasks. The resource can be found here.
Other good lesson plans have been developed by the Medical Association for the Prevention of War (MAPW) and may be found here. The key conflicts covered are World War I (WWII) (Year 9), WWII (Year 10) and the Vietnam War (Year 10). The content is also appropriate for students studying VCE History: Units 1 & 2 (Modern History).
